![]() ![]() This! We all going to have opinions, and we are all going to have a say if a game is worth its price. But I still find it much better than Vanilla V. There are many, many, many of the mechanics in BE feel faulty and/or incomplete. But another expansion and some DLC sponsors (like Civ V) and I think people will be more content, not to mention mods. You're not wrong about the lack of civilizations you can play, that is something that needs work. I have encountered less graphical issues, less crashes, and faster turns then when I play Civ V. Provided my futurist, humanitarian, and science fiction definitely bias my preference for genre setting. Ĭompared to BE with all its faults, I found it more satisfying than going through the blended historical references. BNW made me feel better about diplomatic relations with actual things to propose to the word and conflicts in ideology. G+K remedied some of that emptiness that I felt. I was late to the Civ V party so the Vanilla experience is more fresh in my mind. It seems Firaxis are turning into EA and are getting too used to cutting their games in 1/3 and selling that 1/3 at full price than selling the other two missing peaces as full expansions. ![]() Less Civs (factions) less units, less things to do. Lots of bug, hardware problems, feels like Civ V vanilla if not worst. Short version: Civ BE is a huge set back in many ways. They are obviously doing what they did with Civ V to Civ Be they going sell religion back to us on the second expansion I guarantee it. But I can't deal with the Bull no longer, I'm not going to buy any more DLC from this greedy corporation, that seems to be turning into EA. Selling back to us, caravans and religion that already been in previous Civ Games. I forgave them, what they did with Civ V. Its just sad, Civ V Vanilla had great people and a whole bunch of other neat things, yet Civ BE can't even compete with a 5 year old game without counting DLC.Īnd also, I hate this damn pattern. This shows how lazy Firaxis is, by copying and pasting the code, and saving it later for DLC. Several people who mess with codding spotted that religion and great people were in the code of the game, but yet not fully installed. No bombers or some flying deathstar or idk make some cool SIFI units.Ĭiv Be is just laughable, loaded with bugs, PC problems, and so much content slash out of the game, just to sell back to us. What the hell happen? You're in the future, and the only plane unit you have is a jet. I mean Civ V vanilla had more planes, naval, and land units. This game is geared towards people who call themselves a gamer, because they play on their phone.Ĭiv V vanilla had more diversity than Civ Be, its pathetic. I really don't like Civ Be, its a bugie mess, lots of people having PC problems with it, game is way too simple obviously they were going for a casual crowd rather than their hardcore players who play video games 24/7. I swear its like they grab Civ V, color the terrain with different colors and said "boom, new game" I do not at all feel like I'm on an alien planet. Civ Beyond earth? More like Civ Beyond Disappointment. Aliens are barbarians, affinities are ideologies, and so on.Ĭiv BE is a huge set back, I really hate this western gaming idea of treating their customers like they are mentally challenge out of fear they will lose customers because the game was "too hard" or "too confusing" In Civ Be you'll see that they forgot to put on their big boy pants and were too scared to make any appealing changes to the game. People don't like calling it a reskin, but that's what it is. Civ with mods has more content than Civ BE. But re-defining what are already accepted definitions just because of one of the above seems utterly useless to me.ĭon't buy Civ Be, it is horrible. One can argue whether it's a good product overall and whether it's worth buying if one already owns Civ V. ![]() One can argue whether it's "okay" to reuse an engine for the same kind of game. One can discuss whether BE differentiated itself enough from Civ V to justify a full price release. In the end I don't understand these (often loaded) discussions about what BE is and isn't. Beyond Earth 'is' a standalone game, because it was released as such. It's a standalone-game, strongly based on Civ V. And it's certainly not Civ VI, because it's called Beyond Earth and not Civ VI. It is not a mod because it doesn't fit the definition of a mod and as "total conversion" is a sub-category of modding it is not a "total conversion" either. Beyond Earth is a game where you move out into the universe, find a new home and learn a thing or two about friendship while you advance in technology. ![]()
